Valve Drive

Valve Drive

The EBS ValveDrive DI offers classic and traditional warm tube sounds, ranging from smooth warmth to hard and pure tube distortion.

The EBS ValveDrive DI tube preamp/overdrive pedal lets your bass either sing or scream. Whether you want a glowing warmth or a gritty growl, this pedal delivers everything from classic tube warmth to intense tube distortion, all with a straightforward, easy-to-dial-in design.
Used as a preamp, with Gain at a modest level and Volume cranked up, the ValveDrive turns any solid-state amp into a warm, full-bodied tube amp, adding beefy tone and tube compression to dry, solid-state sounds.

Turn up the Gain further, and the ValveDrive DI creates rich overdrive and distortion. You can switch between Vintage or Normal character, and tweak the knobs to shape your sound. Note that the ‘flat’ setting occurs when Bass and Treble are fully down and Mid is at maximum.

The new XLR output provides a balanced floating signal, allowing you to plug the pedal directly into mixing consoles in studios or gigs. Additionally, the former passive output is now a low-impedance output, letting you use the ValveDrive DI as a standalone preamp with an external power amp for pure ValveDrive tone right from your speakers.

Unlike many tube pedals, the ValveDrive DI delivers authentic warm, fat tube amp tones. Originally powered by a 12V AC supply stepped up internally for tube operation, EBS has redesigned it to run on a standard 9V DC supply, making it compatible with common power sources.

The pedal features a high-quality ECC83 (12AX7) tube. For less gain, you can swap in a low-gain ECC81 tube.

Included with the ValveDrive DI is a 9V DC power supply.
