General
THE EBS CLASSIC 500. DO YOU WANT A CLASSIC VIBE AND LOOK OF YOUR BASS GEAR BUT REQUIRE MODERN FEATURES? THEN LOOK NO FURTHER THAN THE EBS CLASSIC 500 AMPLIFIER.
A versatile amp with a vintage vibe
While the design resembles an old-school tube amplifier in look and feels, the powerful and versatile EQ covers a wide range to get the sound you need for any style. It has the knack of always finding the right place for the bass in the mix.
The onboard organic Drive-control adds just enough dirt and presence when you hit the strings with your fingers or a pick. The kind of tone you usually only get from driving an old tube amp hard.
Despite the look, there are no tubes, making the EBS Classic 500 reliable, lightweight, and easy to maintain.
Since it is not a tube amp, you can run the amp just as safely with or without a cabinet. Connect it to the Front-of-House, the studio mixing console, or the sound recording interface via the excellent built-in balanced DI recording output, when not using a miked cabinet, or in combination with a miked cabinet.
The perfect match
The Classic 500 is the perfect match to the EBS ClassicLine cabinets, available in a range from 1x12" mini-sized cabinets to the massive 8x10"!
Some of the features include:
- EQ section with dual mid controls and Boosted drive control
- Floating balanced XLR output
- 500 W output power into 2 ohms
- Padded cover included
EBS has produced top-quality sounding bass amps since 1988, and the Classic 500 is no exception. Among the artists using the Classic 500 are Johan Blomquist (Backyard Babies), Johan Richter (The Sounds), Jonas Reingold (Steve Hackett), Kyle Konkiel (Bad Wolves), Rasmus Ehrnborn (Soilwork), Ola Henriksson (Bombus), and Necrobutcher (Mayhem). It has also powered a lot of bands on stage at the Sweden Rock Festival over the years. Sweden Rock is the largest rock festival in Sweden with close to 100 bands performing on five stages each year.

by Ulf Widlund (translated from Swedish by the author)
"This is not an old all tube amp – it just sounds like one. The fact is it sounds better than some all tube amps I have owned."
"It sounds surprisingly natural and warm even when it’s cranked up."
