Pops Magellan

Pops Magellan. Poliana, also known as "Pops" is a touring/session bass player and visual artist based in Los Angeles.

Pops was born and raised in Brazil, and at the young age of 9, she took on the bass. By the time she was 12, she had already joined her family’s corporate event band and began playing professionally. Even though she cut her teeth playing Brazilian Music and Rock n’ Roll, she was most heavily influenced by Funk Music and Grunge-Rock. The immersion into these different genres has made Pops an incredibly multifaceted bass player.

Since her move to Los Angeles at the end of 2019, Poliana has performed and toured nationally and internationally with artists like Adam Lambert, Willow, Avril Lavigne, Travis Barker, Larry Braggs (Tower of Power and The Temptations), Beverley Knight, Artur Menezes, Naia Izumi, Nik West, Lari Basilio, Nona Hendryx, Ozomatli, and Moein.

She has also made her way to significant stages, like The Wembley Stadium, Royal Albert Hall, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Global Citizen Festival, The Greek Theatre, The Baked Potato Jazz Club, and Koko in London, to name a few.

Before her move to the US, Poliana was the resident bass player for the Brazilian Late Show ‘Adnight’, hosted by Marcelo Adnet, where she performed with major Brazilian artists such as Anitta, Ivete Sangalo, Daniella Mercury, Ludmilla, Luiza Possi, Emicida and many others. She has also been featured in gear promo/reviews for Fender, Beetronics, EBS, and Darkglass Electronics, and continues to be in very high demand both for live performances and sessions.

Poliana is currently working on her first EP, focusing on new-found isolation through music, self-portraits, and collage formats. Each of her songs has a visual counterpart captured as either a collage, a unique photograph, or a digital piece of art. This distinct work goes beyond simply creating individual compositions – in this, she creates her world.
