Peter Sonntag

Peter Sonntag has created a musical world full of magic. Both as a musician and composer. Praised as a „musician of impressive virtuosity, technical brilliance and blessed with enormous phantasy“ by the rororo-Jazzlexikon.

Peter Sonntag is a composer, producer, solo artist, teacher, author and endorser for international companies. He studied Classical Double-bass (Prof. H. Albert) and New Music (amongst others: Wolfgang Meyer-Tormin) at the Conservatory of Cologne. His critically acclaimed textbook “Basscraft” counts as one of the most successful German bass textbooks, with experts heralding it as “a milestone among bass textbooks” (Bassprofessor) and “the bible for all bass players” (Nightflight).

Countless concerts, tours, TV- and radio performances, as well as engagements for international festivals (amongst others: Woodstock in Poland with over 500.000 visitors), has brought him everywhere from China to the US, and all over Europe. Since 1984, Peter Sonntag organizes exciting clinics for professional magazines (amongst others: Fachblatt Musikmagazin, Gitarre & Bass, Metal Hammer, Gerig music publishing). In 1986, Peter Sonntag founded the international acclaimed bass company esh. Numerous record releases, more than 40 LPs/ CDs/ DVDs under his name alone, distinguishing his body of work.
